Homemaker

Crater District Area Agency on Aging seeks a compassionate and dedicated Homemaker. The ideal candidate will assist clients in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. The position involves performing household tasks and providing limited personal support by agency guidelines. Homemaker service locations will be in Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Emporia, Prince George, Sussex, Surry, Dinwiddie, and Greensville.
Key Duties
Household tasks include dusting, vacuuming, mopping, laundry, and general cleaning.
· Assist clients with shopping and errands.
· Prepare light meals.
· Offer companionship and engage in friendly conversation.
· Educate clients in basic home management skills when appropriate.
· Communicate regularly with agency staff regarding client needs and updates.
· Complete required documentation.
· Follow all agency protocols, including compliance with drug screening and background check.
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Good organizational and time management skills.
· Awareness of household hazards and the ability to act safely.
· A caring attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team.
· Reliable documentation and reporting skills.
· Valid driver's license
Education & Experience
Prior experience is preferred in caregiving, personal care, or home management. Familiarity with instrumental activities of daily living (meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, etc.) CPR or First Aid Certification is preferred.
