Our Services

We are committed to serving the senior citizens of our region, to assist them in achieving a healthier lifestyle. The only requirements are that you are 60 years of age or older, and that you reside in our service area.
Case Management
Case management services provide seniors the opportunity to be active decision makers regarding their care. The goal is to enable seniors to maintain optimal living and independence in the community for as long as safely possible. Case Managers provide outreach, information, and assistance by thoroughly assesing the individual's unique living situation.

Homemaker
This program provides assistance in the home with light housekeeping tasks that the recipients are unable to perform. These tasks may include housecleaning, laundry, and other tasks around the home.

Emergency services
CDAAA will provide emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, etc. to prevent disconnection of services or displacement. These funds are limited on a first come first served basis.

SENIOR MEDICARE PATROL
Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers are empowered to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education. Educational presentations can be provided to local senior groups, church groups, and other events where seniors are present.

Ombudsman
  • The Ombudsman serves as an advocate for seniors receiving services in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or through community-based services to assist persons still living at home. We provide older Virginians, their families, and the public with information, advocacy, and assistance to help resolve care problems.

Volunteer
Volunteers work throughout the Crater District service area in many capacities, such as food pantry, hospitals, with youth and educational programs, as well as with other non-profit organizations in our area. These volunteer opportunities need your time and talents to make our communities a better place to live, work, and play. Your community wants and needs your services. Please consider giving back by volunteering.

lEGAL
  • Individuals can receive limited legal services which include wills, powers of attorney, medical directives, and notary services. You are not charged for these services; however, donations are welcomed.

Transportation
Transportation for medical appointments is provided by our Transportation Department. This is a fee for service based on your income level. Transportation is also provided for senior citizens who participate in our senior sites and other community activities. Door to door service is provided.

VICAP
The VICAP program offers certified Medicare benefits counseling for one-on-one unbiased support to help you sort through your insurance options and assist you in applying for the benefits you are entitled. There is no charge for the service.

Senior Cool Care
The Senior Cool Care program helps low-income seniors remain cool during summer months. Senior Cool Care is sponsored by Dominion Energy, managed by Department for Aging and Rehabilitation Services, and administered by Crater District Area Agency on Aging. The program provides single room fans or window air conditioners to income-eligible seniors who need assistance cooling their homes. The program runs from May 1st through October 31st. Fans and air conditioners are issued on a first come basis while funding lasts.
